Mets Cut Hitting Director Jeff Albert, QA Coach Barnes for 2027
New York is trimming its coaching staff after a disappointing 2026 offense, though most of Andy Green's group will carry over into his first full season.

The Mets officially announced that director of hitting Jeff Albert and quality assurance coach Danny Barnes will not return for 2027. Albert had been with the organization since 2022 and joined the uniformed staff last offseason. The move follows a 2026 season in which the Mets ranked 20th in scoring and finished in the bottom third of MLB across all three slash stats. The team has not decided whether to hire a direct replacement for Albert or add another assistant beneath hitting coach Troy Snitker.
