The Nationals officially released Trevor Williams after he went unclaimed on waivers following a DFA last week. Williams, 34, missed most of the season recovering from UCL surgery but posted a 2.65 ERA in 17 innings out of the bullpen after activation. Washington's move is seen as a courtesy to allow him to join a contending club. He must land with a new organization by today to remain eligible for postseason rosters.
