The Pirates have activated Oneil Cruz from the 60-day injured list, ending an absence that began in early June when he suffered two fractures in his left hand on a play at the plate in Atlanta. Cruz went 3-for-22 across six rehab games in Double-A and Triple-A, but Pittsburgh deemed his fingers sufficiently healed. Before the injury, Cruz slashed .271/.358/.492 with 14 homers and 21 steals in 268 plate appearances. To make room, Hunter Barco and Ronny Simon were optioned to Triple-A, and Yohan Ramirez was reinstated from the paternity list.
