Orioles Name Jared Banner as New General Manager
Baltimore fills its long-vacant GM role by poaching Cubs assistant GM Jared Banner, part of a broader front office restructuring under Mike Elias.
The Baltimore Orioles have hired Jared Banner as General Manager, tasking him with leading player development and coaching while assisting POBO Mike Elias on strategic matters. Banner joined the Cubs organization in 2020 and was elevated to assistant GM in 2024. The hire follows the Orioles parting ways with VP of player development Matt Blood and reassigning analytics chief Sig Mejdal to a role focused on emerging technologies. The moves signal a deliberate effort by Elias to reshape a front office that has been widely characterized as insular.
