Jonathan Ornelas was designated for assignment by Milwaukee earlier this week, cleared waivers, and was assigned outright to Triple-A Nashville. Because he had a previous career outright, he held the right to elect free agency and chose to do so. Ornelas has posted strong minor league numbers this season (.310/.378/.505, 128 wRC+) but has been limited at the big league level. Having just cleared waivers, he is expected to draw only minor league offers, though he would be postseason eligible if signed by September 1.
