The Reds claimed Oswaldo Cabrera off waivers from the Yankees, who had designated him for assignment earlier this week. Cabrera, 27, is a utility player with experience at every position except catcher and has appeared in 268 major league games. He missed most of 2025 after suffering a left ankle fracture but has posted a .288/.345/.444 line in 564 Triple-A plate appearances in 2026. To open a 40-man roster spot, Cincinnati transferred Spencer Steer to the 60-day IL.
