Austin Slater agreed to a new minor league contract with the Rays after opting out of his prior deal and failing to sign elsewhere. He will report to Triple-A Durham. The deal was made official in time to preserve his postseason roster eligibility. Slater, 33, offers bench depth as a right-handed bat against lefties and can play corner outfield and first base.
