Giants manager Tony Vitello confirmed Tuesday that starter Trevor McDonald will undergo Tommy John surgery following a UCL sprain that landed him on the IL last week. The 14-16 month recovery timeline means McDonald will almost certainly miss all of the 2027 season. The 25-year-old held a rotation spot since early May, finishing with a 5.12 ERA over 70.1 innings in his first extended big league campaign. San Francisco will need to address the rotation vacancy.
