White Sox Add Catcher Eric Haase on MiLB Deal
Chicago signed the veteran backstop to a minor league contract and sent him to Triple-A Charlotte as they address a catching depth need.
The White Sox signed 33-year-old catcher Eric Haase to a minor league deal and assigned him to Triple-A Charlotte. Haase was released by the Giants last week after appearing in 29 games this season, hitting .162/.235/.365 with four home runs. Chicago has been actively seeking catching depth since Kyle Teel suffered a high ankle sprain. Haase is a nine-year MLB veteran known for above-average power but high strikeout rates and limited receiving polish.
