A's Release Reliever Michael Kelly After DFA
Michael Kelly is free to sign elsewhere after Oakland released him following a DFA triggered by a 40-man roster crunch.

The Athletics officially released right-handed reliever Michael Kelly after designating him for assignment a week earlier to make room for rookie infielder Joshua Kuroda-Grauer. Kelly had been placed on the Triple-A injured list around the time of his DFA, which made a release the only viable outcome since injured players cannot be outrighted. The 33-year-old posted a 2.92 ERA across 70 appearances in 2024-25 but also served a one-year MLB suspension in between. Oakland may pursue him on a minor league deal, but Kelly is free to explore other options.
