Chase Silseth Heads to Texas in Angels-Rangers Trade
The Rangers acquire the hard-throwing middle reliever, adding swing-and-miss upside to a young bullpen at a pre-arb salary.
The Angels and Rangers completed an intra-division trade Wednesday, sending reliever Chase Silseth and catcher Logan O'Hoppe to Texas for infield prospect Angel Arredondo. Silseth, 26, posted a 2.72 ERA over 39.2 innings this season with a 27.6% strikeout rate and a 96 mph fastball paired with a plus splitter. He has four-plus years of team control remaining on a pre-arbitration salary, making him a cost-effective addition for a Rangers club leading the AL West. Silseth is expected to slot into a middle-relief role in Texas.
