Tyler Beede, a 33-year-old right-hander, has elected free agency after time with the Cubs' Triple-A affiliate in Iowa. It is unclear whether he exercised a contractual opt-out. Beede was a first-round pick of the Giants in 2014 and has posted a 5.55 ERA across 201 major league innings with San Francisco, Pittsburgh, and Cleveland. He had a strong 2023 season in Japan but struggled with an 8.36 ERA in his 2024 MLB return.
