Cardinals DFA Zimmermann, Call Up Shuster Between Doubleheader Games
St. Louis made a quick roster swap mid-doubleheader, cutting ties with Zimmermann after a single bulk outing against Milwaukee.

The Cardinals designated left-hander Bruce Zimmermann for assignment and selected Jared Shuster in a corresponding move between games of a doubleheader. Zimmermann had been added to the roster that same morning to serve as the bulk pitcher in Game 1, allowing three earned runs over five innings in a 4-3 loss to the Brewers. The move was reportedly planned in advance, as the team wanted to give extra rest to starters Michael McGreevy and Andre Pallante. Zimmermann is out of options and is expected to pass through waivers in the coming days.
