Zimmermann Elects Free Agency After Cardinals Outright
The lefty reliever cleared waivers after a DFA and chose free agency over a Triple-A assignment with St. Louis.
The Cardinals designated Bruce Zimmermann for assignment, and he cleared waivers before being outrighted to Triple-A. Zimmermann, who has been outrighted multiple times in his career, exercised his right to elect free agency. He had been on the MLB roster for just one day, used as a bulk reliever in a doubleheader against Milwaukee. St. Louis originally signed him to a minor league deal in January.
