The Cardinals officially announced an eight-year extension with rookie infielder JJ Wetherholt, keeping him under contract through 2034. The deal includes a $2MM signing bonus and salaries escalating from $2.5MM next season up to $25MM in the final year. Wetherholt can earn up to $20MM in additional bonuses tied to MVP voting finishes and All-Star selections. A $2MM assignment bonus is also included if he is traded.
