JJ Wetherholt agreed to an eight-year contract extension with the St. Louis Cardinals on Friday, guaranteed at $112.5 million through the end of the 2034 season. The deal includes up to $20 million in incentives tied to MVP votes and All-Star appearances, plus a $2 million signing bonus this fall. Wetherholt is posting a 114 wRC+ and 3.5 WAR in his rookie season, leading the Cardinals in WAR and ranking second among all second basemen.
