Houston demotes struggling starter Mike Burrows to Sugar Land and brings up Alimber Santa from the same affiliate.
The Astros officially optioned right-hander Mike Burrows to Triple-A Sugar Land on Tuesday after a difficult stretch with the big-league club. Right-hander Alimber Santa was recalled from Sugar Land to fill his roster spot. Burrows, 26, came to Houston this past winter in a three-team trade that sent outfield prospect Jacob Melton and minor leaguer Andesrson Brito to Tampa Bay. He had been expected to anchor the third or fourth spot in Houston's rotation but has struggled to meet those expectations.
