D-Backs Cut Carlos Santana, Making Veteran 1B a Free Agent
Arizona released Santana after his DFA, ending a disappointing stint that included an adductor strain and a .083 average in rehab.

The Diamondbacks released Carlos Santana following his designation for assignment earlier in the week. Santana signed a $2MM deal before Spring Training to fill a platoon role at first base but played only eight games before suffering an adductor strain on April 5. He spent over two months on the IL and hit just .083 in 10 rehab games with Triple-A Reno. The 40-year-old is now free to sign with any club.
