Yunior Marte Heads to NPB After Pirates Release
The right-hander, recently released by Pittsburgh, is returning to Japan's Nippon Professional Baseball for a second stint with the Rakuten Eagles.

Yunior Marte was released by the Pirates over the weekend and has agreed to join the Rakuten Eagles of Japan's NPB. Earlier this season, the Reds designated him for assignment after he allowed four runs in one-third of an inning in his only appearance. Marte cleared waivers, chose free agency, and briefly signed a minor league deal with Pittsburgh before his release. The 31-year-old has struggled to a 5.94 ERA across parts of four MLB seasons.
