Cardinals Cut Bligh Madris; First Baseman Headed to KBO
St. Louis released the 30-year-old depth piece despite a strong Triple-A season, with no MLB path available due to roster logjam.
The Cardinals released first baseman/outfielder Bligh Madris, who signed a minor league deal with St. Louis last offseason. Madris posted a .277/.389/.519 line with 14 home runs in 284 plate appearances at Triple-A Memphis but never received a call-up. His path to the majors was blocked by Alec Burleson at first base, a left-handed-heavy outfield, and the team's preference for younger players. He is now reportedly headed to the KBO League in South Korea.
