The Orioles have traded reliever Kyle Nicolas to the Nationals in exchange for minor league infielder Randal Diaz. Washington subsequently optioned Nicolas to Triple-A Rochester. The deal is notable as the first trade between the two clubs since the Nationals relocated from Montreal in 2005. Relations between the franchises had been strained for years over MASN broadcast rights, but tensions have eased since David Rubenstein purchased the Orioles in 2024.
