A thunderstorm with lightning and heavy rain struck St. Louis around 8 PM CT, suspending the Cardinals-Braves game after three scoreless innings. Flooding was severe enough to inundate the Cardinals' dugout and render multiple areas of the field unplayable. After a delay of 2 hours and 43 minutes, the grounds crew restored the surface and play resumed at 10:45 PM CT. The game was tied 0-0 at the time of the stoppage.
