Austin Wynns Elects Free Agency After Rangers DFA
The veteran backup catcher rejected an outright assignment to Triple-A Round Rock and is now a free agent after clearing waivers.

The Rangers designated Austin Wynns for assignment and he subsequently cleared waivers. Wynns, 35, exercised his right to elect free agency rather than accept a Triple-A assignment, a right earned through prior outrights and five-plus years of service time. He slashed .146/.195/.183 across 89 plate appearances with three clubs this season. He is expected to sign a minor league deal with another organization soon.
