Konnor Griffin, the Pirates' starting shortstop and baseball's former No. 1 prospect, tore a tendon in his left ring finger while making a diving catch on July 5. The team confirmed an 8-10 week timeline for his recovery. Griffin was set to be placed on the injured list Tuesday afternoon. At the time of the injury he was slashing .276/.332/.404 with 5 HR, 25 RBI, and 20 stolen bases in 59 games.
