The Blue Jays officially claimed catcher Shawn Ross off waivers from the Mets and assigned him to Triple-A Buffalo. Ross was designated for assignment by New York two days prior, his second DFA in as many months after Pittsburgh let him go in late July. He made his MLB debut with the Pirates on July 25-26, recording a two-run homer in five plate appearances. With Kirk and Valenzuela entrenched as Toronto's catching duo, Ross slots in as organizational depth with two minor league options remaining.
