A's Top Pitching Prospect Wei-En Lin Facing Tommy John Surgery
The 20-year-old lefty, a $1.3MM international signing in 2024, faces a recovery timeline that wipes out the rest of 2026 and likely all of 2027.

Wei-En Lin, a left-handed pitching prospect in the Athletics organization, is scheduled to undergo Tommy John surgery. The 20-year-old had excelled at Double-A Midland with a 1.93 ERA over 51 1/3 innings before a promotion to Triple-A Las Vegas went poorly. Lin allowed eight earned runs in just 1 2/3 innings across two Triple-A starts, and was placed on the injured list June 14. The standard recovery timeline puts his return no earlier than August 2027.
