Pirates GM Ben Cherington disclosed during a weekly radio appearance that surgery is a consideration for catcher Endy Rodriguez, who has been on the 10-day IL since August 10 with left hip inflammation. More clarity on his status is expected later this week. Rodriguez has a lengthy injury history including UCL/flexor tendon surgery that cost him nearly all of 2024 and ulnar nerve transposition surgery that ended his 2025 season. He had been performing well in 2026, hitting .267/.373/.467 with seven homers in 159 plate appearances before going down.
