Giants Claim RHP Joel Kuhnel Off Waivers From Milwaukee
San Francisco adds a ground-ball reliever with a 95 mph fastball/sinker combo, controllable through 2029 and not arb-eligible until after 2027.

The Giants claimed right-hander Joel Kuhnel off waivers from the Brewers, who had designated him for assignment earlier in the week. Kuhnel, 31, is out of options and must be placed on the active roster. He carries a 5.58 ERA in 129 big-league innings but has strong Triple-A numbers (3.08 ERA in 119.2 IP since 2024) and a heavy ground-ball profile. Milwaukee chose to DFA him rather than reinstate him after a rehab stint in which he posted a 1.64 ERA in 11 Triple-A innings.
