The Giants reinstated first baseman Bryce Eldridge from the bereavement list and designated infielder Buddy Kennedy for assignment as the corresponding move. Kennedy, 27, was out of options and posted a .116/.224/.140 line this season. He had previously been DFA'd by San Francisco earlier this year, traded to Seattle for cash, then reclaimed on waivers in August. Kennedy will be placed on waivers and may elect free agency if he clears, given a prior outrighting on his record.
