Luke Little Outrighted by Royals, Minor League Free Agency Looms
Kansas City designated Little for assignment and outrighted him to Triple-A Omaha, opening a path to minor league free agency.

The Royals designated left-hander Luke Little for assignment and subsequently outrighted him to Triple-A Omaha, per the MLB.com transaction tracker. Kansas City had claimed Little off waivers from the Cubs in early August, but he struggled badly in Omaha, posting a 7.28 ERA with an 18% walk rate across 44 Triple-A appearances. This is Little's first career outright assignment; having played parts of seven minor league seasons, he is now eligible to elect minor league free agency at the start of the offseason. He will be out of options next season, making him likely a non-roster invitee candidate going forward.
