The Royals are replacing hitting coach Alec Zumwalt, who will shift back to a front-office role as senior director of hitting performance. Zumwalt took over as on-field hitting coach in May 2022 but Kansas City's offense ranked in the bottom third of MLB in runs, home runs, walk rate, and OBP during his tenure. The move was reported by Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic. A new hitting coach for the big league staff is expected to be named.
