Mariners reliever Matt Brash has been officially shut down for the remainder of the 2026 season after a new MRI showed increased inflammation in his right lat. He had already been on the IL retroactive to June 9 with a lat strain and previously missed three weeks in May with the same issue. Brash will not throw for eight weeks but is expected to be ready for a normal offseason program. The loss is a significant blow to Seattle's bullpen, as Brash was one of its better options when healthy.
