Mickey Gasper Out for Season With Torn Biceps, Surgery Friday
The Red Sox catcher/first baseman tore his biceps off a tendon and will go under the knife Friday, ending a promising late-season surge.
Mickey Gasper, who was placed on the 10-day IL with a right biceps strain, has been confirmed to have a full biceps tendon tear requiring surgery on Friday. Beat reporter Rob Bradford of WEEI broke the news, and manager Chad Tracy had already signaled the injury was serious before the IL placement. Gasper had been on a strong run in August and September, hitting 10 home runs in 106 plate appearances with a .667 slugging percentage. His season and any postseason role are now over; he will target a return for 2027.
