Outman Outrighted to Triple-A After Clearing Waivers
The Tigers sent outfielder James Outman to Toledo after he cleared waivers, ending his second DFA stint of the 2026 season.
Detroit designated Outman for assignment over the weekend to open a roster spot for lefty Andrew Sears. Because Outman has fewer than three years of service time and had not previously been outrighted, he was required to accept the minor league assignment. He hit .183 with five home runs in 100 plate appearances for the Tigers, posting a 41.8% strikeout rate across 94 games split between Detroit and Minnesota. Outman will return to Triple-A Toledo and await another big-league opportunity.
