Owen Miller Outrighted to Iowa After Clearing Waivers

Chicago designated infielder Owen Miller for assignment on August 21 as part of roster shuffling that included reinstating Daniel Palencia from the 60-day IL and activating Gabriel Arias, claimed off waivers from the Mets. Miller had just been called up days earlier following Dansby Swanson's IL placement but appeared in only one inning without a plate appearance. He cleared waivers by August 25 and was outrighted to Triple-A Iowa. Miller, who is out of options, may elect free agency rather than accept the outright assignment.
