San Diego designated depth reliever Alek Jacob for assignment as Jason Adam came off the 60-day injured list.
The Padres officially designated reliever Alek Jacob for assignment to open a 40-man roster spot. Jacob, 28, has spent most of 2025 in Triple-A, posting a 5.58 ERA over 61⅓ innings, and appeared only three times at the MLB level this season. He is in his third and final option year and will pass through waivers in the coming days. A claiming team could stash him in the minors this year but would need him on the MLB roster in 2026.
