Arizona selected Pavin Smith from Triple-A Reno and placed him in the starting lineup for tonight's game against the Rangers. To make room on the active roster, catcher/DH Adrian Del Castillo was optioned to Triple-A. Smith, 30, was DFA'd and sent outright to Reno in July after posting a .417 OPS and 19 wRC+ in 81 PA this season following a return from an elbow injury.
