Phillies Make Mattingly Full-Time Manager on Two-Year Deal
Don Mattingly drops the interim tag and signs through 2028 after guiding Philadelphia to a Wild Card berth following a mid-season managerial change.

The Phillies officially named Don Mattingly their full-time manager, signing him to a two-year contract covering 2027-28. Mattingly replaced Rob Thomson in late April when the team was 10 games under .500 and went 79-55 the rest of the way to reach the Wild Card. The club had first pursued Alex Cora after firing Thomson, but Cora declined both initially and again after the season. Mattingly had originally joined the organization as bench coach before being elevated to interim manager.
