Cal Quantrill was removed after just 1.1 innings in his most recent start against the Blue Jays, with his four-seamer averaging 91.7 mph versus his season norm of 93.8 mph and his final fastball clocking 87.8 mph. The Rangers officially placed him on the 15-day IL with a right lat strain. He will miss the Wild Card Series beginning September 29th but could potentially return during a Division Series run. Winston Santos was recalled from Triple-A Round Rock to fill the roster spot.
