The Rays officially selected Brody Hopkins' contract before their game against the Astros. Hopkins, acquired from Seattle in the Randy Arozarena trade, struggled as a Triple-A starter with a 5.17 ERA and 21% walk rate but posted a 3.00 ERA in nine relief innings since moving to the bullpen in mid-August. To make room, RHP Alex Cook was optioned to Triple-A and RHP Michael Grove was designated for assignment.
