Reynaldo López Likely Headed to IL With Shoulder Discomfort
Atlanta's rotation takes another hit as López struggles with shoulder issues after returning from a knee injury in August.
Braves manager Walt Weiss told reporters the team is strongly considering placing Reynaldo López on the 15-day injured list due to shoulder discomfort. López had already missed all of August with a left knee issue and returned last week, but allowed 11 runs across 7.2 innings in two starts. His fastball velocity has dropped significantly from his 2024 peak of ~96 mph to the 92-93 mph range. An IL stint would effectively end his regular season and rule him out for the Wild Card Series beginning September 29.
