Royals Release Catcher Jorge Alfaro After Minor League Season
Kansas City has released veteran backstop Jorge Alfaro, who spent the entire 2026 campaign in the minors and never received a major league call-up.

The Royals released catcher Jorge Alfaro after he spent the 2026 season in their minor league system. Alfaro signed a minor league deal in December and attended spring training but did not appear in any games. He posted a .223/.287/.468 slash line with 15 home runs across 62 games at Double-A and Triple-A, but struck out 41.5% of the time. The 33-year-old is now a free agent.
