White Sox GM Chris Getz publicly confirmed that Chicago and Munetaka Murakami have discussed a long-term extension. Murakami signed a two-year, $34MM deal this past offseason and is under contract through the 2026 season at $17MM. The 26-year-old has hit 29 home runs in 429 plate appearances with a 138 wRC+, though a hamstring strain cost him over a month. A potential looming work stoppage in 2027 may add urgency to completing a deal.
