Blue Jays Release Matt Bowman After Triple-A Stint
Bowman triggered an opt-out in his minor league deal and Toronto elected to release him rather than add him to the 40-man roster.

The Blue Jays have officially released right-hander Matt Bowman, confirmed by his MLB.com profile. Bowman, 35, had triggered an opt-out clause in his minor league contract, forcing Toronto to decide by Saturday whether to promote or release him. He posted a 10.38 ERA in 8.2 innings at Triple-A Buffalo, though underlying metrics including a 23.7% strikeout rate and 53.8% ground ball rate were more encouraging. Toronto ultimately chose not to add him to the roster.
