Cubs DFA Left-Hander Hoby Milner After Rehab Window Expires
Chicago removes the 35-year-old reliever from its 40-man roster, dropping the count to 39, with a waiver claim possible before Sept. 1.

The Cubs designated left-handed reliever Hoby Milner for assignment on August 29, confirmed by Bruce Levine of 670 The Score. Milner had been on the 15-day IL since June following an appendectomy and began a rehab assignment in late July. With the 30-day rehab limit for pitchers approaching, Chicago opted not to reinstate him. He will be placed on waivers and could attract interest; a claim before September 1 would make him postseason eligible with a new club.
