Mets Claim RHP Cameron Weston From Orioles, Option to Triple-A
New York adds a depth arm with a five-pitch mix after Baltimore DFA'd the 26-year-old earlier this week.
The Mets claimed right-hander Cameron Weston off waivers from the Orioles and optioned him to Triple-A Syracuse. Baltimore had designated Weston for assignment earlier this week after he made just one MLB appearance, throwing one scoreless inning. To create a 40-man roster spot, the Mets designated catcher Shawn Ross for assignment. Weston, a 2022 eighth-round pick, profiles as a depth starter with a fastball, slider, changeup, splitter, and cutter.
