Konnor Griffin Starts Rehab, Pirates Return Imminent
The 20-year-old shortstop begins five games of tune-up work at Double-A Altoona before rejoining Pittsburgh on Friday, Sept 5.
Pirates shortstop Konnor Griffin is beginning a rehab assignment at Double-A Altoona after spending roughly eight weeks on the IL with a sagittal band injury in his left ring finger. He is expected to play five games before being activated on September 4th or 5th, when Pittsburgh opens a home series against the Angels. To clear roster space, Endy Rodriguez — who just underwent hip surgery — is expected to shift to the 60-day IL. Griffin had posted a 101 wRC+ with 20 stolen bases in 247 plate appearances before the injury.
